Evidence before interface

How Roofline handles the record.

Sources, definitions, calculations, limitations, and ranking policy—visible enough to challenge.

01 / Inputs

Where the data comes from.

This build contains 313 published business records; 193 include a matched Connecticut home improvement contractor registration number. The build snapshot is 2026-10-30.

  • Business records: Overture Maps place data and Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection HIC registry records, as normalized in the supplied published dataset.
  • Website-title evidence: fields already present in the supplied enrichment data. Roofline does not crawl or revalidate those sites during this static build.
  • Housing context: Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development, Annual Housing Permit Data By Town, 1990–2025, dataset stm9-38x4. Retrieved in the source data on 2026-10-29.
  • Current registration check: visitors are directed to the Connecticut eLicense lookup. Roofline does not claim that its snapshot is a live check.

02 / Language

What the labels actually mean.

Registration matched
A state registration number is attached to this business in the supplied dataset. It is not a live status check or endorsement.
Registration not matched
No registration record was attached by the pipeline. Naming, trade-name, and matching limitations can contribute; this is not an accusation.
Stated service
A tag supported by words in the business name or available website title. It is not a complete capability list.
Not in current data
The field is absent. The site does not infer a fact from that absence.
Housing permits
All covered annual housing permits in the DECD source—not roofing-permit counts.
Shortlist
Your selection stored locally. Saving does not signal a score, recommendation, or transmission to the business.

03 / Ordering

No hidden quality score.

Directory results default to alphabetical order. Town and registration-first sorting are explicit data operations. There are no star ratings, “best” badges, paid positions, or sponsored links in this build. Exclusive introductions have a disclosed contractor acceptance fee, independent of organic ordering.

If paid placement is introduced later, it should be visibly labeled, use appropriate sponsored-link treatment, and remain separate from organic ordering and trust indicators. Factual corrections should never require payment.

04 / Math

The calculator shows its work.

For a simple footprint, rough sloped area is length × width × pitch multiplier. The pitch multiplier is the secant of the roof angle. Area including waste is sloped area × (1 + waste ÷ 100). Roofing squares divide that result by 100.

The model is intentionally limited: it excludes overhangs and does not model complex geometry or product packaging. It is not a material order or price estimate. Bid coverage counts non-empty fields and says nothing about bid quality.

05 / Boundaries

What this prototype does not do.

  • No live registry verification, weather feed, independently confirmed availability, insurance verification, or contractor recommendation.
  • No visitor accounts or server-side storage of project-workspace inputs. Explicit introductions, corrections, subscriptions, and consented analytics use separate API records; project fields are not included in analytics.
  • No invented ratings, reviews, testimonials, prices, certifications, service areas, or permit requirements.
  • No assurance that the dataset includes every contractor serving a town or that source details remain current.
